Exactly What Does FTP Stand for and What Can it do for Me?

FTP stands for "file transfer protocol". FTP is basically a way of sending files over the Internet.

An FTP program can help you with uploading information from your computer to your server and vice versa. All you do is drag the information from one window to the next.

If you have a website, then you want to use FTP and are probably already doing so without knowing it. Once you create your website, you have to get it to the server in order for it to be available online and the best way to transfer these files is by FTP.
