You have heard that there is extra money on the table marketing products related to yours. You have also heard that your direct competitors product is off the table. How unfortunate. Wouldn't it be nice to be able to profit from the hard work, expertise and quality of your competitions product?
By the end of this article you will be very familiar with three ways to do just that. You will not only profit from your direct competition, but will be able to use your competition to elevate your position in your niche.

If your competition is as astute as you are, they will be familiar with your product and your market position. They will then be open to a method whereby they will profit from your product.
Here then is your first assignment - contact your competitor and offer a special price or affiliate profit to your competitor. Ask for the same from him. Suggest that you each use that special deal as an upsell to your customers on your download page. If you are working with an offline product, offer coupons, rebates and other methods of promoting your competition. Have a mechanism set up whereby your competitor will compensate you for that business.
Keep in mind that if your customers are interested enough to buy your product, they will most likely be interested in another product that is very similar. That is why this is such a powerful tool. Also, since you are recommending that product, there is a great chance they will purchase it. There is much less chance that they will purchase the product of another competitor. The same applies to your product that your competitor is offering.
